Hole Overview Architects Notes by Gil Hanse We love to build great short par 3 holes and we thank the members for letting us roll this one back and Chandler Egan for giving us the model. Upon perusing the scorecard holes of this length always register in the mind as easy and a score of par is almost a foregone conclusion. Before jumping to this conclusion, golfers need to stand on this tee, take in the grandeur of the setting (clubhouse, river, lawn, bunker) and make a good swing because anything less and you will have some work to do to put that 3 on your card. I love the scale of this hole and the interest of the green will only be elevated by the creation of some new hole locations, front left and back right. History The origin of the historical name “Halfway” is still debated whether Waverley members were either halfway home or halfway to the 19th hole. 1993 USGA Junior Amateur Championship… Ryan Armour birdied the 129 yard ninth spinning his 9-iron within three feet of the hole tucked behind the left bunker to get back to square.
