Hole Overview Architects Notes by Gil Hanse his hole provides a great launch into the back nine, and following the short 9th and long 8th, it continues the wonderful rhythm of the Waverley course. This is a stout par 4, (and can be very stout indeed from the back tee) with a relatively straight forward tee shot (long is good!) We restored the left approach bunker and the right hand approach expansion. Golfers trying to land short and run the ball on to the green will need to consider this low profile bunker. Another option would be to sweep one in from the right approach but attention must be given to the two right hand bunkers. Green and approach bunkers of this nature are terrific classic features that rely on firm and fast conditions to make them relevant. History The origin of the historical name “Cottage” refers to the greenskeepers house that stands to this day and was a part of the original Cambridge lots. |
